JEE Main Do’s & Don’ts

JEE Main 2025 Do’s & Don’ts

The JEE (Main) is the first step in a tough engineering entrance exam in India. It's a computer-based test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in various states. If you do well in this, you can qualify for the next level, JEE (Advanced), and have a shot at getting into some of the best engineering colleges. Around 12 lakh students compete in this exam, and it's natural to feel a bit nervous as the exam date gets closer.

Instead of getting worried, focus on getting the right information and following the correct instructions on the exam day.

1.0Do’s for the JEE Main Examination

  • Reach the exam venue at least 30 minutes before the JEE Main 2025 exam. Carry necessary documents like the admit card, undertaking form, and ID proof.
  • Stay positive in the exam room; it helps in tackling the test more comfortably.
  • Verify all details on the attendance sheet and ensure proper signatures.
  • Refrain from distracting behaviours or discussions to prevent expulsion from the exam.
  • Read and understand all instructions on the question paper and response form.
  • Assess the difficulty of questions, categorize them, and allocate time wisely.
  • Start with easier questions for confidence.

2.0Don’ts for the JEE Main Examination

  • Refrain from guessing answers, as it can result in negative markings and a loss of marks.
  • Effective time management is vital during the JEE Main exam. Avoid spending excessive time on a single question; move on and return to challenging ones later.
  • Arrive early on the exam day to avoid missing crucial instructions. Being late can be a setback.
  • Leave electronic devices outside the exam room, including phones, calculators watches, and other devices.
  • Choose comfortable clothing for exams to minimize unnecessary stress.

3.0JEE Main Guidelines for Prohibited Items

  • Calculators, electronic/smartwatches, and mobile phones are not allowed in the examination hall.
  • Candidates, except those appearing for B.Arch, are not permitted to bring items such as paper, geometry box, or pencil box.
  • Personal items like purses, handbags, earphones, and microphones are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.
  • Cameras, tape recorders, and metallic items such as metal bands and kara are strictly forbidden.
