1.0CUET 2025 Overview
CUET is conducted on a national level by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to over 200 Indian universities for various courses at the undergraduate level. Previously, CUET was conducted in hybrid mode (both computer-based tests and pen-paper mode using OMR sheets). However, there is a hot talk that, from 2025 onwards, exam will only be conducted in CBT mode and in 3 shifts each day.
CUET UG exam paper is divided into three sections:
- Section 1 is divided into 2 Sub-sections, namely Sub-section 1A, which covers the language test, and Sub-section 1B, which includes an optional language test,
- Section 2 consists of the domain-specific test, and
- Section 3 includes a general test.

The CUET exam eligibility criteria is simple and to the point, but it’s important for you to meet all the eligibility requirements on or before the cut-off date. Let’s take a quick look:
Nationality
Candidates need to clear one of the below-mentioned nationality criteria to be eligible to apply:
- The candidate needs to be a citizen of India.
- A member state of Nepal and Bhutan.
- A refugee from Tibet who took refuge in India before 1 Jan 1962 to become a permanent resident of India.
- A Person from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Maldives, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam who permanently moved and settled in India.
Educational Qualification
A candidate must score at least 50% in their 12th exams or Equivalent Exams from a recognized board of secondary Education like CBSE or CISCE. For SC/ST candidates the minimum percentage cuts down to 45%.
Equivalent Examinations
- Senior secondary school examinations held by NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) with a minimum of Five subjects.
- Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination conducted by a recognized board/university.
- Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services wing of the National Defence Academy.
- Any Private/public school/University examination in India or abroad is valid only if it is recognized as equal to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian University.
- The 3 years Diploma of Technical Education recognized by AICTE or a State Board is also acceptable.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) examination of London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka at Advanced (A) level is accepted.
- High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
- A higher Secondary Certificate of Vocational Studies examination is also acceptable.
Note: If you have completed your class 12th examination outside India or from a Board not specified in the above list then you can also request the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to produce a certificate confirming that the examination you have passed is equivalent to the class 12th examination.

Age Limit
There is no age limit to apply as soon as you clear all the educational qualifications mentioned above. However, a Candidate will still need to fulfill the age criterion if any specified by their desired University/Institution/Organization. For the specific information related to age criteria candidates are suggested to regularly visit the websites of these Universities/Institutions/Organizations.
Subject Requirements
Candidates need to choose the subjects in their senior secondary years according to the degree they want to pursue in their degree program. For admission into different universities the subject requirements may differ. For Example, if you want to apply for a B.Sc (Hons) in Physics in University of Delhi then you need to take science subjects in your senior secondary.
Number of Attempts
There is no limit on the number of attempts. A candidate can apply as many times as they want unless they qualify all the other eligibility criteria specified above.

As per the rules laid by the Government of India for reservation of seats for SC/ST, OBC, and PWD, every university which is a part of this examination process must follow these rules:
